As a result of imperialism leading its influence in the United States, problems went about as the US looked to expand its scene even further. With the Cuban Rebellion uprising against Spain and its forces, the United States maxim it as its opportunity to flex its police power in keeping eastern countries out of involvement in the West. As tensions rose with the sinking of the USS Maine as newspapers titled the new tone up Remember the Maine abroad the United States, that was the last straw. Leading invasions were move to overthrow Spain in Cuba. After major battles and turning points, the US came out with the victory with the signing of the Treaty of Paris of 1898. In doing so, the US gained the Philippines and Guam, independence was given to Cuba, bothowed the establishment of a US naval base in Cuba, and the United States had finally been effected as a world power across all nations. Overall the Spanish-American War was a major point in the Imperialism Stage that the United States went through back in the recent 1800s, and led to even further involvement in personal matters all over the world.
