Regulatory agencies ar necessary to administer and enforce laws decreed by local, state, and the federal government. Many agencies affect the practices in the health care guinea pig for the benefit of patients for peace of mind knowing that those they come to for religious service in a vulnerable situation are held accountable for their professional action the same as private actions. The Controlled Substances deport (CSA) establishes rules and regulations regarding prescription and iniquitous drugs. The federal agency responsible for enforcing the CSA is the do drugs Enforcement Agency (DEA) created by chair Richard Nixon. The following contains a draft history of the agency and examples of how this agency affects the health care industry.

Prior to the creation of the Drug Enforcement Agency, crimes involving narcotics and other illegal drugs fell to the responsibility of several agencies from 1927 to the creation of the DEA by President Nixon in 1973.
