The Mousetrap Revealed
Sitting, thinking, fingers franticly intertwine and sweat drips from the brow; one waits for what will find of the situation at hand. At first sight it may appear as a description of an overwhelming fall of nervousness, but in all actuality it is foreshadowing a nefarious conscious. Shakespeares stage . . . mirrored the values and customs of the Elizabethan era [and] rendered a vision of human qualities and flaws that would appeal to subsequent generations (Marien and Fleming 319), which is exactly how the actions and thoughts of the characters in his goldbricks are depicted.
