After reading Life of Pi, one is left with the unrequited question about which drool is true? It isnt ever easy to recognize the difference between what is fiction and what is reality, and the compose leaves the reader to decide the truth on their own. In the low story Pi Patel survives at sea in a manners boat with many animals from his fathers zoological garden and a 450 pound Bengal tiger that disappears after reaching land. In the second story he was actually in the life boat with the cook, his mother and a sailor where the characters were changed to animals to help him roll in the hay with his loss. Various occurrences during the novel lead me to consider that the first off story is true. Either side can be argued. To argue that the first story is the true story: all characters in the text, nonetheless those originally skeptical, and including the author, eventually choose to believe the first story. Pi was greatly experienced with zoo animals, and manages to plausibly explain how he survived with Richard Parker for so long.



Similarly, he seems truly depressed about Richard Parkers desertion, such that it is clear that he, at least, believes his second storyPis cecity is symbolic in many ways in the occurrence with the Frenchman. At the exterminate of Life of Pi, Pi tells the Japanese officials that they would believe in the man-eating island if they had seen it, and thus ties belief to sight. Without sight, belief is much much difficultâ€"so much so that Pi assumes he is hallucinating for much of his conversation with the Frenchman. But in the end he is able to believe without sight, an imperative for belief in God.
