2)sometimes good people do evil things. How does this happen?
Sometimes, some people who are genuinely good, have to deal with ruinous/evil thoughts and ideas. This is usually due to a greater good. Hank immovable to kill his brother because he knew that his brother would never allow go of the shame he has done. Therefore he would be suffering for the rest of his life. Hank killed him because he knows that even though it is a sin and that he would never forgive himself.
But he knows that keeping Jacob would jeopardize his family and therefore he, a good person, must act in a evil/immoral way. This also relates to euthanasia because the question of who decides on who dies and who lives. Is it really in Hanks men to choose his brothers fate? Is it even Jacobs choice? But since this happened quick and things had to be done quickly, they had to act quick and in result, they did not make good choices.
