?As the book has unraveled so far Janie has done what ever her elders communicate her to do. So when Mr. Logan Killicks asks Janies Grandmother for her hand in labor union (which back then was more like going to the famers grocery an making a trade) and her Grandmother agrees, Janie does what she is told and marries Logan thinking she would love Logan by and by they were get hitched with(21). This passage from the book made me feel really sorry for Janie. Not only is she being told to get married which at her age no one would be mobile for, but she is getting married to a man who is a complete stranger and twice her age. Hurston really brings out Janies inexperience trough her writing in the first catch sentences of the passage containing nothing but questions about love and what it was. Hurston withal shows how unaware Janie is that for a relationship to work you must set up effort into e really day by saying … nanny and the old folks had said it, so it must be so. Husbands and wives always loved each other, that was what marriage meant(21).
